Goodbye 2013! Hello 2014!

As 2013 goes into its final hours I sit here and take a look back at the year that has passed. So much changed this year.

Going from in a relationship to moving together and then to single. There’s no doubt about it that a lot can happen in a year. And even though it has been one of the roughest years I’ve been through it has in a weird way also been the best. It has been the year where I’ve truly found myself creatively and personally. It is when life throws a lot of shit at you that you really learn to know yourself on a whole new level. 2013 was that year when thing was rough but I kept on going. I feel like I can’t say thank you enough to my friends and family for all of their help and support! Love you!

2013 was the year when I found my way back to poetry! It had been so many years since the last time I even tried to write one, and then all of a sudden I found myself writing one for my father’s and grandmother’s 50+70 years birthday party. I remember sitting there more nervous than I’ve ever been before. I’ve held speeches and presentations before and I had never felt “stage fright” like that before. Partly because of the poem being as personal as it was but also because poetry had been sort of lost from my life for so many years that it felt like a scary reunion. I thought I was going to faint as I stood there on top of my chair and read out my poem, but fortunately I didn’t. And after that day my notebook has been filled up with poetry. Some has made it through to my site and to your eyes and I love the amazing feedback that you guys have given me! I feel extremely lucky to have so many amazing readers 🙂

My son had his first day of school this year and he’s doing great. It’s so amazing to watch as he learns to read and write. To be able to read stories that I loved as a child and see him love it just as much!

I got in front of the camera again in 2013 after a year long break. It felt so amazing and I can promise you that there are a lot of projects in the making so new pictures will turn up.

We have much to learn from a green furry man!

“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”

― Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

All the packages are under the tree, my father and two of my brothers are still sleeping upstairs while Leander and I enjoy  Christmas cartoons and the candy filling that Santa put in Leander’s stocking. This is what Christmas is all about. Spending time with the people that you love.

People tend to forget that too easily.

I’ve seen plenty of people running around like headless chickens, getting stressed up and stressed out and feeling like Christmas is nothing other than a big hassle.  This mindset is so wrong!

Christmas and how you experience it (like so much else) depends on your attitude about it!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS! This time of year is my absolute favorite. Because in most of us it brings out the best. A childlike joy and wonder! It comes with time to be with family and friends. Time to share memories and make new ones.

Last night was one of those nights where new memories were made. One of my brothers, my father and I sat up till 6 AM talking. We talked about world problems, dating, relationships, kids, travelling, writing, music, science and so much more.  And while we sat there it hit me that just doing that was one of the perfect examples of Christmas for me. To sit up late with family (even though my Christmas flu really was trying to mess it all up.. I didn’t let it!) and feel relaxed and blissful.  Stomach filled with good food and drinks, sitting comfortable in the dim light of my fathers kitchen and just enjoy life. Enjoy the now and of course to enjoy Christmas in all its glory!

Let us learn a little from The Grinch. Christmas isn’t about what you spend on presents or how perfectly tidy and clean your house is. It’s about being with the people that you love and it’s about finding those special ways to show them how much you care about them.

Keep that childlike joy and wonder in your hearts and cherish it, share it and enjoy it!

Merry Christmas to all of you amazing readers!

Love you guys!

Christmas flu calls for Christmas laughs!

This year I’ve really caught a case of the Christmas flu. I’m starting to get better but there is still some more time needed before I’ll be good as new. So what can you do when caught by the flu?
I rummaged the world wide web for some hilarious Christmas fun and this one was exactly what I was looking for:-P
I hope it gives you as much extra Christmas joy as it gave me!!

Merry Christmas!!

Imparare l’italiano

I love to explore other languages! My love of words came very early on and I was an early reader and an early writer. This has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I was lucky to have family that picked up on this and started to teach me English at an early age as well.

Later in life I’ve been learning a little French, a tiny bit of Dutch and now I’m going all in to learn Italian. And Duolingo is helping me in a fun way. I’ve recommended the app in an earlier post as well and I stand by it 😛
If you want to learn a new language then download Duolingo!

Have fun learning something new!!
